State Representative Monique Smith

Spending time with the amazing Councilperson Sarah Kepple today reminded me why I ran for State Rep. I ran because of HER and the many women like her who inspired me with their activism after the 2016 election.
Back then, when people like me were starting to give up, women like Sarah showed me that they were just getting started.
Women like Sarah stood up, spoke out and never gave in to pessimism, no matter how bad things got. In fact, the worse things seemed, the harder they’d work. And they never asked for anything but a better, fairer community and country in return. Their energy, commitment and jaw-dropping talent made me believe positive change was still possible.
I often watched from afar as Sarah accomplished incredible things. And today I finally got to connect with her in person to tell her how much her activism and example has meant to me. I’m sincerely thankful to Sarah for inspiring me and for doing so much good as a leader.
I am proud and honored to endorse Sarah in her race for Lakewood City Council. I hope friends and voters will support her in the primary next Tuesday Sept. 14th and keep great things happening for Lakewood.
